Iowa City Area Assocation Of Realtors Scholarship

The Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS® (ICAAR) Scholarship Foundation is happy to announce the opening of applications for the 2020 ICAAR Community Service Scholarship Program. We have designated $4,000 to be awarded in the form of one $2,000, one $1,000 and two $500 scholarships to be awarded to graduating seniors at high schools within the ICAAR service area (Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Washington and Muscatine Counties). The student must attend school in one of the aforementioned counties.

Application deadline is March 27th. Applications and letters of recommendation will be submitted electronically via the link provided. Application information can also be found on icaar.org. Students chosen to receive scholarships will be asked to provide a school photo for use in press releases. Scholarships awarded through the ICAAR Community Service Scholarship Program are intended to be used for college education and expenses at any accredited college, university, community college, technical or trade school. Children of REALTORS®/members of ICAAR are not eligible to apply (separate scholarship opportunities are available).

It is important to understand that determination of the relative merit of submitted applicants will be judged primarily on the information provided in the short answer section of the application. Although academic standing and extra curricular activities are important, they will not be the emphasis for this award. The primary focus will be on community involvement and service to others. This emphasis on community service mirrors the philosophy of the REALTOR® members who devote so many hours service to community and civic activities. We hope that these scholarships will encourage students to continue to seek opportunities to serve.

Scholarships will be presented by an ICAAR REALTOR® member at the student's respective award ceremonies. If you have any questions, feel free to contact ICAAR at 319-338-6460 or megan@icaar.org

Iowa State's Darryl Jahn Scholarship

We are pleased to inform you that Beta Sigma Psi will be providing three $2,000 scholarships to men attending Iowa State University in the fall of 2020. Applicants do not need to join Beta Sigma Psi to be awarded a scholarship. If you could please post the link to the application (pasted below) on your scholarship web page and print off the attached page to have available for any interested men, we would greatly appreciate it!

Beta Sigma Psi is composed of about 60 men and is located in the heart of Iowa State's 'Greekland' neighborhood. Our chapter house provides a comfortable and well-kept home for our members. The cost of living at our chapter house is lower than university housing and located only a block from campus. We are focused on three core values:

  • Spiritual - We were founded at Memorial Lutheran Church in 1949 and it has been our home church ever since. The men of Beta Sigma Psi are also involved in other on-campus ministries such as Kairos, The Navigators, and Salt Company. We prioritize community involvement and participate in various service organizations such as the Puppy Jake Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.
  • Scholastic - We are consistently in the top 5 out of 33 fraternities on campus when measured by grade point average. The All-Greek GPA at Iowa State is always higher than the All-University GPA and we continue to place at or near the top of the All-Greek GPA rankings each year. Beta Sigma Psi also provides structured mentorship and advising, free university tutoring, complementary printing, and Dean's List scholarships.
  • Social - We are fully active in Greek activities such as Homecoming and Greek Week and we hold many other social events throughout the year. Over the summer we also hold group events, including a canoe float trip and a trip to see a Major League Baseball team. Our men typically organize trips to Iowa State Football away games, and bowl games.

Thank you for your cooperation in communicating this scholarship to the students of your school. Please reach out if there is any additional information you need! If you have received this email by mistake and think there is someone else who could better help us, please forward this information on to the appropriate person, or pass their contact information along to me.
